Pharmaceutical Product Development (PPD)
Clinical Trial Volunteers Audio Project
PPD, a global clinical drug testing company, needed more volunteers to test the safety of new drugs in development at its Phase I Clinic in Austin, Texas.
To boost recruitment efforts, I approached senior management with a recommendation to create an audio FAQ to give prospective volunteers insight into participating in a safety trial.
Process:
I recorded conversations with 21 study volunteers about their experiences with the Phase I Clinic. I then edited their responses into 11 audio clips for the PPD website (ppdi.com).
During the four-month project, I worked with:
Phase I staff in Austin, Texas, to find interested study volunteers.
The legal department to secure release forms.
The corporate communications team for project feedback.
I also managed a design firm to create the images and posted the audio files online.
Results:
Interest in the Phase I Clinic grew 30%.
Safety trial enrollment improved by 20%.
